Three Prescriptions For Lukewarmness (III)

From the Pastor: Dr. M. J. Seymour, Sr.
“… knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.” (Rev. 3:17b-18)
The second prescription is “white raiment” to cover-up the nakedness of the sinfulness of the flesh. White raiment is in reference to righteousness, however, “we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags;” (Is. 64:6) Well, if it is not of ourselves we are in agony within a terrible sickness. Yet by the mercies of God He has provided a covering for our condemning illness. As it is written: “But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.”(Rom. 13:14) The white raiment is the righteousness of Jesus Christ.
Apostle John beheld the saints around the Eternal Throne “clothed in white robes,” and one of the elders told him that it is because they “have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.” (Rev. 7:9, 14) Thus, we understand that the antidote is not of earthly origin. John was also privy to the future union of the saints with the Bridegroom: “… for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.” (Rev. 19:7b-8) It is the holy robes plunged into the cleansing power of the righteous blood of the Lamb and clothed upon the saints that brings healing for the disease, the shame, and guilt of our sins of the flesh.
As a wound is covered to prevent a re-infection so too the obedient saints are mindful to find safe haven under the righteousness of Jesus daily. At the least opportune moment sin will fly to stir in more contaminations to hinder the healing process. Put on Jesus daily and keep under His righteousness for spiritual health.
