From Our Pastor:

Profane and Vain Babblings. But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.” 2 Timothy 2:16

The words “profane” and “vain babblings” means - heathenish, and empty sounding, that is, fruitless discussion – This would include most of what is taught from the pulpit in most assemblies today. The truth of the matter is that only in a Sovereign Grace Baptist Church can one hear truth from the scriptures. The reason is that once Gods sovereignty has been removed then there is nothing else to preach. All other preaching becomes “profane and vain babblings” in which God tells us to shun. The word “shun” means basically simply to stay away from it; and the reason God told us this is, it is worthless. Not everything taught in these places of worship is of God neither is it glorifying to God. God does not use it nor does it produce any good results. God said their words were empty sounding, that is, fruitless discussion, not fruitless in the world but fruitless to God. Many people have a zeal for God and actually dedicate their life to the lies and vain babblings but to no profit to God. “For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.”Romans 10:2  People look at the great worship centers and all the people that attend and think they must be of God but that in not so, size never measures Gods workings, truth does. God never said look for the preacher that has the largest congregations but rather the preacher that speaks the truth. Preachers are measured only by the TRUTH they teach.  “Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honourespecially they who labour in the word and doctrine.” 1 Timothy 5:17 that would be the doctrine of the word which is the truth of God. There is not another measuring stick in which to measure them except by truth. God also told the churches that these men were so worthy that they were worthy of double honor that is two times what you think they are worth. He also gave the churches two commands concerning His pastors “For the scripturesaith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward. 1 Timothy 5:18 churches are not to muzzle their pastors that they cannot speak the truth or starve them to weakness or death. What do you as a church member want for your church; profane and vain babblings which you can find in any assembly that refuses to teach truth or truth? Do you want a pastor which babbles and builds great assemblies on lies or a pastor that preaches truth. Support your pastor; he is all you have and he is sent from God with His blessed truth. Pastors of truth are hard to find therefore we all need to support those that we have. I hate to say this and sound shoddy but if you have a pastor that teaches truth let him preach and keep him fed. Think sometime what would it be if God were to move your pastor and leave you without. We praise God for the truth of His blessed word but not just anyone can preach it and so many who try fail. Preaching is a calling and those who are not called will fail, either their ministry will fail or truth will fail and they will become preachers of profane and vain babblings.

For Our Weekly  Meditation:

Whosoever Will

The Arminian counters with: “Well, how about the ‘God so loved the world’ of John 3:16? All Scripture must be rightly divided, otherwise a benighted counsel will ensue, and darkness will be taken for light. One thing we know, if God ever loved the whole world of mankind, He still loves them; for God is immutable and changethnot. (Malachi 3:6; James 1:17) Divine love (agape) is ever reaching forth to bless all upon whom it abides, and seeing God’s love is sovereign, it follows that there can be no spurning or rejection of His love.
In John 3:16, our Lord is telling Nicodemus that His love extended beyond Jewish nationality, and that His love was not inextricably bound to the seed of Abraham, but under the infinite canopy of His elective love was an innumerable host of Gentiles (Romans 9:24).God’s love is exactly that; His love. And He says: “. . . it is not of him (man) that willeth . . . but of God that showeth mercy.” (Romans 9:16). There is not a heresy more damnable than that which teaches God cannot accomplish His redemptive purpose except fallen man join his will to that of God’s, or cooperate with God in His efforts to save.

What is true of “Whosoever will may come,” it is equally true, that permission without desire or ability profits nothing. And so it is Christ says to the Jews: “And ye will not come to Me that ye might have life.” (John5:40) In the exercise of their will they crucified Christ, and the Gentile heart is as desperately wicked as that of the Jews, for in nature, there is no difference. The elective decree of God needs NO human adjuncts, nay, not the will nor the work of man. And so it is, volitional salvation of the creature is not merely a stranger to the Bible record, but it is a gross usurpation of the God honoring doctrine of election.

John 5:40 and 6:44 teach that man, as he is in nature, has neither the power nor the will to come to Christ, and every man left to his native strength is as sure to be in hell as Lucifer himself. But thanks be unto God, for He has chosen some of Adam’s helpless posterity unto salvation, and those Whom He has chosen are identical with the believers of John 3:16. The Holy Spirit brings conviction, contrition, and conversion to the heart of all God’s elect. Commensurate with these blessings, they learn that they have been enabled by the power of God to come to Christ without any effort on their own, and their heart is filled with gratitude toward God for His electing LOVE.
