From the Pastor: Dr. M. J. Seymour, Sr.
“Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him,
that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not
serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin. Now if we be dead
with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:” (Rom. 6:6-8)
It
is distressing that the quintessential element at the core of factual
Christianity has been abandoned in the pulpits of many
churches. Hence, the churches are putrefyingly diseased with fleshly
and worldly operations. Most congregations seem to crave the very
depravity that is condemned by the Lord Jesus and the Father. Many of
the churches seem to focus on the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes,
and the pride of life to procure inflated growth. To die to self and to
live unto Christ Jesus is a truth lost to self-esteem.
Apostle
Paul clearly establishes this fact of a bona fide Christian life in
writing: “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I,
but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I
live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for
me.” (Gal. 2:20) One
must come to grips with this reality of what a genuine Christian life
is actually about if he is to walk in the ways of God. “Self” must be
lost in the Christ who died for us.
Christ
being crucified was a willing sacrificial act on His part. He did not
have to do it, but he gave up His own life willing that we would be free
from the guilt of sin and the bondage of sin. When a saved individual
willingly continues under the slavery of sin he brings reproach upon the
sacrifice and
blood of Jesus. It is as if he spits upon the Lord’s blood and
tramples it under foot. Lord help!
God
would have us to be as dead men walking toward a holy destination. It
is absolutely imperative for every believer not to resist and rebel
against Jesus living in him and through him. We are here for the glory
of the Father not our own glory. The earth does not revolve around our
petty little egos; all things were created by Him and for Him. Walking dead so we may walk in abundant life!
