The Pastors Corner:

Blessed are the meek.

Matthew 5:5 “Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.”

Here we are at our third Beatitude and we find it is about the meek. Who are the meek? They are the same as “the poor in spirit” and “the mourners”, they are all one single people and they are those who have believed in Jesus Christ as their Saviour. These are not different people they are all one people and those are the Christians. A child of God shall receive everything and inherit everything because it all belongs to God. As Christians we should not get our hearts set on the things of this world because there is nothing here for us, but in Christ we shall have everything. What we have in this world will only be taken from us one way or another, but what we have in Christ Jesus we will have eternally. Job learned this when he had lost everything; he blessed Gods Holy name. Job 1:21 - 22 "And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD. (22.) In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly." Why does a Christian need so much earthly stuff when he has all he needs in Christ, you will not inherit a piece of land but rather the entire earth. When God makes a promise He keeps His promises. We are rich beyond our imagination just as we are blessed beyond our imagination.

Who are the meek? The meek are those who humbly submit themselves to God, and do His blessed will. The meek are also those who are kind toward others, “To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men.” Titus 3:2. The Lord Jesus Christ told us in Matthew 11:29 “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.” The word “yoke” means – servitude – and that carries the same meaning as being a slave which means - the state of being ruled or dominated by somebody or something – Jesus Christ was dominated by God; He said many time that “I come not to do my own will but the will of Him that sent me” this is the same yoke we also are to take if we are going to be meek. Now it is true that all Christians will inherit the earth but those closer to God will receive a greater inheritance because they will have a more crowns to glory the Lord with. Christians must realize that what we do today will have a great impact on our future. The Lord also reminds us in Psalms 149:4 “For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation.” The Lord is very satisfied with His people that are meek and follow His blessed will. How can any Christian not allow themselves to be Christ-like. Most Christians simply get to caught up in this world and what it has to offer and when they do, they put the Lord on the back burner (so to speak) and by doing this they lack meekness. Who are you going to serve God or mammon? The meek will always serve God. People get so caught up in what they will inherit when someone dies but their real quest should be what will I inherit when they die from my heavenly Father? Have I served Him enough, am I as meek as I need to be, and is God satisfied with my service? Earthly stuff will die but the things of God will last for an eternity. We will let the Apostle Paul conclude this article with what he said to the church at Colossae in Colossians 3:12 - 14 "Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; (13.) Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. (14.) And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness."

Out Of Spiritual Death:

"And ye shall know that I am the Lord, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves Ezek. 37:13

Indeed it must be so: those who receive life from the dead are sure to recognize the hand of the Lord in such a resurrection. This is the greatest and most remarkable of all changes that a man can undergo -to be brought out of the grave of spiritual death, and made to rejoice in the light and liberty of spiritual life. None could work this but the living God, the Lord and giver of life.

Ah me! how well do I remember when I was lying in the valley full of dry bones, as dry as any of them! Blessed was the day when free and sovereign grace sent the man of God to prophesy upon me! Glory be to God for the stirring which that word of faith caused among the dry bones. More blessed still was that heavenly breath from the four winds which made me live! Now know I the quickening Spirit of the ever-living Jehovah. Truly Jehovah is the living God, for He made me live. My new life even in its pinings and sorrowings is clear proof to me that the Lord can kill and make alive. He is the only God. He is all that is great, gracious, and glorious, and my quickened soul adores Him as the great I AM. All glory be unto His sacred name! As long as I live I will praise Him.
