And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. 2Co 12:9

I cannot be trusted for one moment!
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
The following in an excerpt from the diary of James Smith:
March, 1943.
This day my convictions of sin are deep--and my discovery of my follies is painful. It is in reference to prayer and watchfulness, that I principally fail.
How much I require to humble me, empty me, and keep me in my roper place! How often do I perceive that but for the Lord's keeping--I would be undone! I cannot be trusted for one moment! I see it, I feel it, I confess it before God; and yet if others were to say so of me, or to me--how would my pride be hurt!
What a mercy have I found the throne of grace, yesterday and today! I know not when I visited it so often. O that I was as powerfully drawn to it by love--as I am driven to it by trouble!
I feel more like a child--as to wisdom, prudence, strength, and courage--than I ever did, for I seem to have none! O that I felt as much like a child--in reference to confidence, dependence, and love to my Heavenly Father!
O that I was thoroughly holy, truly wise, really prudent--then I think I would be happy, and make others happy!
It grieves me, that I not only procure trouble to myself--but that I trouble others; and if God were to withhold His grace--I would do but little else! However, God has promised grace--and grace will pardon what it does not prevent. But the pardon is often preceded by bitter experience, arising from conviction, self-reproach, fear, darkness, bondage, and distance from God. O for preventing grace--as well as pardoning grace!

The Pastors Corner:
The Work Of Satan
We now come to our second study on Satan, and as we do we want to look at his works. Everything about Satan is evil; he hates God, Jesus Christ, the Lords churches, and Christians in general. Satan never rest therefore he can and does spend pretty much all his time attempting to destroy what God is accomplishing. Never think that you are out of his reach because you are not. We are now going to look at several of Satan’s evil works.
Satan possesses and controls the world. – God has given Satan control of this world system, “The earth is given into the hand of the wicked…” Job 9:24 but only in a limited amount of power and control “Surely the wrath of man shall praise thee: the remainder of wrath shalt thou restrain.” Psalms 76:10 It is because of this that we as Christians can understand why the world is as it is. God will never relinquish anything totally to any of His creation; however for the time being Satan does indeed control the world system.
Satan accuses God’s people. – Satan love it when Christians do something wrong, he just loves to accuse us before the Lord. Revelation 12:9 - 10 "And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. (10.) And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night." Folks it is not only that God sees our sins but He also hears about them from Satan.
Satan also tests, hinders, resists. – God never tempts one to sin but Satan loves to, he also loves to hinder Christians and churches, and the works we are attempting to accomplish. Luke 22:31 "And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:" - Grain was agitated or shaken in a kind of fan. The grain remained in the fan, and the chaff and dust were thrown off. So Christ says that Satan desired to try Peter; to place trials and temptations before him; “to agitate him” to see whether anything of faith would remain, or whether all would not be found to be chaff - mere natural ordor and false professions. Paul was also hindered by Satan "Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul, once and again; but Satan hindered us." 1 Thessalonians 2:18 We always need to look at the roadblocks before us; most of the time it is Satan in our way.
Satan tempts, ensnares, and leads men into evil. – If you are tempted to go astray or not to go to church or any of the other things God expects of His children then Satan is attempting to lead you wrong and we must all learn to resist his evil snare. “But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?” Acts 5:3 The difference between Ananias heart being filled to lie and Judas Iscariot is that Judas had Satan in his heart, John 13:27 “And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly.” The difference between temptation and possession is that if a person is saved than possession is impossible. There is not room in a Christian’s heart for Satan and Jesus Christ, therefore Judas was a lost man.
Folks Satan will do anything and everything to hinder the Christian or the churches therefore we must all be very careful in everything that we do. We must also be careful in what we believe because he also loves to have preachers to preach lies rather than truth.
For Our Weekly Meditation:
One Look From The Lord
"And the Lord looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee?" Judges 6:14
What a look was that which the Lord gave to Gideon! He looked him out of his discouragements into a holy bravery. If our look to the Lord saves us, what will not His look at us do? Lord, look on me this day, and nerve me for its duties and conflicts.
What a word was this which Jehovah spoke to Gideon! "Go." He must not hesitate. He might have answered, "What, go in all this weakness!" But the Lord put that word out of court by saying, "Go in this thy might." The Lord had looked might into him, and he had now nothing to do but to use it, and save Israel by smiting the Midianites. It may be that the Lord has more to do by me than I ever dreamed of. If He has looked upon me He has made me strong. Let me by faith exercise the power with which He has entrusted me. He never bids me "idle away my time in this my might." Far from it. I must "go," because He strengthens me.
What a question is that which the Lord puts to me even as He put it to Gideon! "Have not I sent thee?" Yes, Lord, thou hast sent me, and I will go in thy strength. At thy command I go, and, going, I am assured that thou wilt conquer by me.

The world's standard of Christianity
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
(J.C. Ryle, "Holiness, Its Nature, Hindrances, Difficulties, and Roots" 1879)
"If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me." Matthew 16:24
Let me warn everyone who wants to be saved--not to be content with the world's standard of Christianity. Surely no man with his eyes open, can fail to see that the Christianity of the New Testament is something far higher and deeper than the Christianity of most professing Christians. That formal, easy-going, do-little thing, which most people call 'religion'--is evidently not the religion of the Lord Jesus. The things which He praises--are not praised by the world. The things which He blames--are not things in which the world sees any harm. Oh, if you would follow Christ--do not be content with the world's Christianity! Tremble, tremble and repent!

Blue Letter Bible

July 1, 2012
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, [there] ye may be also. (John 14:3)
Because Jesus will go and prepare a place for us, He will also surely return to take us to be with Him. Christ often assures us throughout Scripture that He is coming back for His church. The place that He has prepared for us will be our eternal dwelling as we are His bride. Praise the Lord that we have this assurance!

God with Us
God shall be with ye. (Genesis 48:21)
Good old Jacob could no more be with Joseph, for his hour had come to die: but he left his son without anxiety, for he said with confidence, "God shall be with you." When our dearest relations or our most helpful friends are called home by death, we must console ourselves with the reflection that the Lord is not departed from us but lives for us and abides with us forever. If God be with us, we are in ennobling company, even though we are poor and despised. If God be with us, we have all-sufficient strength, for nothing can be too hard for the Lord. If God be with us, we are always safe, for none can harm those who walk under His shadow. Oh, what a joy we have here! Not only is God with us, but He will be with us. With us as individuals; with us as families; with us as churches. Is not the very name of Jesus, Immanuel—God with us? Is not this the best of all, that God is with us? Let us be bravely diligent and joyously hopeful. Our cause must prosper, the truth must win, for the Lord is with those who are with Him. All this day may this sweet word be enjoyed by every believer who turns to "faith's checkbook." No greater happiness is possible.
