Walking In The Name Of Your God

From the Pastor: Dr. M. J. Seymour, Sr.
“For all people will walk every one in the name of his god, and we will walk in the name of the LORD our God for ever and ever.” (Micah 4:5)
In this passage there is a fact of present era first, and then there is a fact of future era. The first speaks to all the ages prior to Armageddon, and the second speaks to the kingdom age following the victorious return of the King of kings and Lord of lords and eternity to come. Carnal state and glorified state of all people are the defining points of these two eras. The second excludes those of the second death for they have not everlasting life. Only the sons of God acquire life forever. Thus, let us speak to each age separately.
First, the second utterance of God is: “Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, …” (Ex. 20:4) Graven images begin in the mind and are expressed outwardly. At times they are carved into stone, wood, metals, etc., but they are not exclusively fashioned into tangible materials. The mind of man by nature shapes a deity out of his thoughts that suits his own ideology; thus, he sculptures in thought a god that meets his desires and modifies his god at his will. It is this god by which each man will seek to sooth his conscience.
However, when a man has received a new birth out of the Spirit of God through the blood of Jesus he is born a new creature, which is referred to as a “son of God”, because a pristine spirit is born within him out of God. (I Jn. 3:9; 5:18) Now, because the new spirit within the man is born out of God it has the eternal nature of God. The Holy Spirit teaches the new man the mind of God, and, therefore, his mind knowing the one true God seeks to craft no other God. The new creature is found in total harmony with his Creator.
Unregenerate people cannot comprehend the true God and out of a desire to follow something create in their minds a graven image to pursue. Regenerate people cannot conceive of walking in any other name than the LORD God now and forever. Thanks be unto God!
