The Pastors Corner: Don’t Hate For The Truth’s Sake! Galatians 4:16 "Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?" Here in the Twenty-First Century hate because of biblical truth runs deep; however man has always hated Gods truths. These Jewish people here that Paul is speaking to certainly did not appreciate Paul’s writings and teachings. However, if Paul were alive and preaching today he would be just as hated if not more so. As we look into Gods Holy Script called the Bible we find so many things’ that cause us to disagree and to argue. These folk killed the Lord Jesus Christ for who He was and what He taught; however the killing did not stop there, almost all of His disciples were also killed for the same reason. We find during about 1300 years from the 300’s thru the 1600’s about fifty million Christians were killed for the truths sake. While we as Sovereign Grace Landmark Baptist are not killed for the truths sake we are just as hated for believing and teaching the Holy Scriptures. A person that hates someone doesn’t necessarily hate them because they are the person they are, but rather what they believe and teach. For example a person doesn’t hate the President of the United States because he is a person but rather because of what he believes. If you take a Conservative like President Ronald Reagan and make him a liberal than the Demarcates would have loved him, on the other hand if one would take President Barack Obama and make him a conservative then the conservative right would love him. The same is true in Religion or Christianity if you took a five-point Sovereign Grace Baptist preacher and changed his thinking then those in the Armenian churches would love him. We as a people judge other people on what they believe or say, because we may not even know the person. This is why these folks at Galatia are judging Paul, for what he is teaching, just as folks do today. These people had not always hated Paul but the opposition teaching was so strong in those days that it changed some of these folk’s hearts. Paul told us in Ephesians 4:15 "But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:" We are to speak the truth in love; and while the truth is most important to us all we are not to hate other because they disagree. It amazes me to how strong some Christians are that they can disagree on some subject or maybe just be misunderstood and it causes a canyon of division between them. I hope and pray that I have never hated someone or called them an enemy because we disagree on Gods word. A brother or Sister in Christ are also bought and forgiven by the blood of Jesus Christ and God said "Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him." 1 John 3:15 Folks we must be careful in what is in our hearts and our opinion of people. On the other hand please understand that what I believe in the scriptures, I believe to be absolute truth and everything I believe is of utmost importance to me and I am willing (by Gods grace) to give my life for them. I believe that people will hate me for what I believe and there may even be a time when I must surrender my life for the truth sake. But I understand it is not me they hate but rather Gods word that they hate. But if I suffer for Gods truths then so be it. Jesus said “The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil.” John 7:7 I am called a hate monger because of what I believe on abortion, homosexuality, and other issues; but I understand it is not me they hate but rather what God teaches me. Even Jesus Christ was hated in John chapter six when He had just taught salvation by grace and the seven thousand that heard Him Murmured and left. John 6:66 "From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him."

For Our Weekly Meditation: By The Good Hand of God “And by the good hand of our God upon us they brought us a man of understanding, …” (Ezra 8:18) “And he gave some, apostles; and some prophets; and some evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.” (Eph. 4:11-12) Contrary to popular opinion, not every one standing in a pulpit is a man of God sent by the good hand of God. There are many strong delusions that have ensnared scores of well meaning folks. Many worldly business practices have replaced Spirit led knee-prayers. Seeking resumes has become more fashionable than seeking the will of God. The norm is “Who do we want?”, rather than “Who does God want?” There is much ignorance prevailing in the churches, in the pulpits, in the pews, and in board and committee meetings. There has been a fostering of the anti-theist mentality and a suppression of seeking the leadership of the Holy Spirit of God. The Almighty does not bless a church that He does not rule by His good hand. False pastors of righteousness are on an evil quest of deceits. “Every good gift and every perfect gift if from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” (James 1:17) Every legitimate man of God educated by the Spirit with heavenly understanding is a gift from the hand of God to any congregation. Dare we abuse him whom the Father values as a gift from His hand? It is most dangerous to inflict cruelty on the Lord’s servant. Let he who is spiteful to the Father’s gift be warned of the judgment. Heavenly wrought pastors and missionaries are jewels in the Eternal’s hand. Will we not treasure them as He does? Brethren, count it a tremendous honor and responsibility when God by His hand sends a man of understanding into your midst to unveil to the congregation the mind of God.
