The Pastors Corner:

The wickedness of mankind

Romans 1:17 - 21 "For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. (18.) For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; (19.) Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. (20.) For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: (21.) Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened."

As a minister and especially as a pastor my main concern is the lost and dying souls of mankind. We like to think of mankind as being good but as we dig deeper and deeper into the souls of mankind we see that there is none righteous no not even one single person. "As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:" Romans 3:10 We may see good in them but what God sees is only evil. One of mans biggest issues is understanding God; not just one single issue about God but He as a whole. Certain people will understand this about God and another will understand that about God; but understanding God as a whole is impossible. Let us use this example; there are hundreds of billions of stars in each galaxy and there are hundred’s of billion galaxies in the entire universe and God has them numbered exactly and has them all named. God created the world and all that is within it, he created man and all that is within him. God created the seas and all that is within them, and He created all creeping things and all that is within them. The bible concludes in Psalms "I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well." Psalms 139:14 God created man in His own image and created him as a servant to Him, just as He did with the angels but mankind was given a gift that no other created being was given and that is, he was adopted as a “son of God”. "Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will," Ephesians 1:5 this is a blessing that of all Gods creation has not received not even the angels in heaven. Michael the archangel while such a blessed angel and wonderful servant of God will never be anything more than a mere servant of God. But mankind; the single most awful of His creation will one day be the “sons of God” or at least a remnant of us will be. Mankind is the one single creature of creation that will curse God, belittle God, mock God, refuse and reject God, and simply refuse to believe that He even exist. Mankind would rather believe that life and all that exist came from nothing than to believe that God is the creator of it all. Mankind is sadly mistaken and that mistake will cost them eternal damnation in the lake of fire.

“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men” That is the anger of God has been and will continue to be revealed from heaven against mans ignorance. We think that things happen by accident or happenstance but God controls all things including disasters. There is nothing out of Gods absolute control. When disasters happens we may need to look and see what we have done wrong and correct it before God gets more angry, but being the creature that we are we will not.

“For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen…so that they are without excuse:” one thing is for sure mankind will stand before God “without excuse” while they will attempt to explain things away there will be no excuses. Any single person on earth except the retarded among us can look at creation and clearly see Gods handy work. Mankind simply refuses to recognize a Superior Being. "If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin." John 15:22

A Thought For The Week:

"You are my friends—if you do whatever I command you." John 15:14

There is something very sweet in the thought, that we may be Christ's friends, and that he opens all his heart to us. "The secret of the Lord is with those who fear him." This means that if we are Christ's friends—he takes us into the closest intimacy. Not many of us realize all that is possible, in the way of companionship with Christ. If we are on terms of unhindered friendship with him—we can indeed talk with him freely, intimately, as friend with friend.

"How does he talk with us?" some one asks. A heathen convert said, "When I pray—I talk to Christ! When I read my Bible—Christ speaks to me!" If we live close to Christ—the words of Scripture are very plain to us; Christ himself indeed speaks to us in them.

There was a godly man in Germany, named Bengel, who was noted for his intimacy with Christ. A friend desired to watch the saintly man at his devotions. So he concealed himself one night in his room. Bengel sat long at his table reading his New Testament. The hours passed. At length the clock struck midnight, and the old man spread out his hands, and said with great joy, "Dear Lord Jesus, we are on the same old terms." Then closing his book he was soon in bed and asleep. He had learned the secret of friendship with Christ.

The church will hold her monthly business meeting today during the 4:00 service.

A panacea; by Thomas Watson:

The Scripture is a spiritual looking-glass, to dress our souls by. It shows us heart-sins, vain thoughts,

unbelief, etc. It not only shows us our spots—but washes them away!

The Scripture is an armory, out of which we may fetch spiritual artillery to fight against Satan. When our Savior was tempted by the devil, He fetched armor and weapons from Scripture: "It is written!"

The Scripture is a panacea, or universal medicine for the soul. It gives a remedy to cure deadness of

heart, Psalm 119:50; pride, 1 Pet 5:5; and infidelity, John 3:36. It is a garden of remedies, where we may gather an herb or antidote, to expel the poison of sin!
