The Pastors Corner:
The wicked desires evil.
Proverbs 11:16 “A gracious woman retaineth honour…”
Our church does not recognize holidays because they belittle the meaning of what they are suppose to be all about. For example is Christmas about Christ birth? Is Easter about the resurrection of Christ? Or is any other “holyday” about what it is suppose to be all about? The answer is no, they are all misused and deceiving. Today about 99% of assemblies will take time from the worship of the Lord Jesus Christ and worship mothers instead, they are going to brag of mothers and most mothers will lick it up like a dog licks up table scraps. Pastors will in the very same breath they are suppose to be praising God say something ignorant and belittling about the Lord to their congregations in order to edify mothers. I remember several years ago passing thru Tyler, Texas and passing by a very large Baptist church and on their sign was this quote “God could not be everywhere at one time so He created mothers”. Now most will doubt this because no Baptist would ever belittle the Lord in this way; however I promise this is true. Although your doubt is correct because no real Baptist Church would ever say anything so ignorant! I emailed the Pastor and told him they need to fire the person in charge of the sign, but I never heard back from him. But this is why we do not celebrate special days.
With all this being said, I would like to take just a few lines to describe a most wonderful mother. In today’s society we do not have very many honorable women or men, just as we do not have many honorable families. The world we live in today will not allow us to be honorable, it makes us all rotten and unworthy of being called honorable. So ladies while you’re Pastors are bragging on you today and causing your heads to float to the ceiling because of how great and wonderful you are, maybe it would do you good to take Gods test on what an honorable woman is and see if you pass. First of all an honorable woman please God, see the rest of the worlds opinion doesn’t matter if God is not pleased, would you rather be praised by man or God? God told us “A gracious woman retaineth honour…” A “gracious woman” is one that has beauty and kindness, not as we see it but as God sees it. God looks at us all differently than we look at each other , we look on the outside and a little on the inside but God only look on the inside, see God could careless how you appear to be but rather how you really are in your heart. I have known several honorable women in my Christian life and I see very few today. A woman that is submissive to the Lord, submissive to her husband, caring for her home, teaching her children, faithfully reading and obeying her bible, and teaching her children the word of God. This is a gracious woman, ladies how do you rate on Gods scale? Now the second thought is this; God said “A gracious woman retaineth honour…” She doesn’t just have these virtues but she “retaineth” them. That means she maintains them or is steadfast in them, or they are with her everyday for the rest of her life. When a woman leaves the purpose that God intended for her then she no longer retains these honors. See an honorable woman or mother is one who pleases the Lord and not her husband or her children, if she pleases God then she will naturally please her Christian husband. It is not about how busy you are, how wonderful you are about succeeding in the world, or even how good you are in the church or community, but rather how you obey and follow Gods word in the way God intended for the woman. But we live in a society that prevents a woman from honoring God with her life because you are a hate monger if you ask a wife to obey and be submissive to her husband, to tend to her home and raise her children, or to cook all the meals for their family. This is no longer a woman’s place, however if you want to be an honorable woman and mother then this is your place. Are you going to obey God or man? But with all this being said; when you see a “gracious woman” you will know her because she will be different from almost all the other women you see, and she will seem to be strange because she is obeying God.
Proverbs 31:10 - 11 "Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. (11.) The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil."
Proverbs 31:27 - 28 "She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. (28.) Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
Cure For Envy:
"Let not thine heart envy sinners: but be thou in the fear of the Lord all the day long. For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off" Prov. 23:17, 18
When we see the wicked prosper we are apt to envy them. When we hear the noise of their mirth, and our own spirit is heavy, we half think that they have the best of it. This is foolish and sinful. If we knew them better, and specially if we remembered their end, we should pity them.
The cure for envy lies in living under a constant sense of the divine presence, worshiping God and communing with Him all the day long, however long the day may seem. True religion lifts the soul into a higher region, where the judgment becomes more clear, and the desires are more elevated. The more of Heaven there is in our lives, the less of earth we shall covet. The fear of God casts out envy of men.
The death-blow of envy is a calm consideration of the future. The wealth and glory of the ungodly are a vain show. This pompous appearance flashes out for an hour, and then is extinguished. What is the prosperous sinner the better for his prosperity when judgment overtakes him? As for the godly man, his end is peace and blessedness, and none can rob him of his joy; wherefore, let him forego envy, and be filled with sweet content.
