The storms of life
When we are in the midst of a big storm in our lives, whether it be a hurricane or some trials overwhelming us caused by sin in us or in others, health problems, financial struggles, slander, ….
When all hope is gone that we might be saved, and we are tempted to despair…
When it seems all forsake us like the Apostle Paul experienced at times or we are betrayed by those we thought were our friends…
Our only hope is to keep on serving the Lord, bringing all our burdens to Him and leaving them there…
Yes, we are to work if we can to meet our needs, pray, take medicines if required to bring us back to health,
But these are just means the Lord uses to take us out of the storm.
We are not to try and work ourselves out of the mess or trials we are in. We only have to keep faithful.
OUR ONLY HOPE IS BY GRACE AND FAITH IN THE FINISHED WORK OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST AT CALVARY!
’Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to take Him at His Word;
Just to rest upon His promise,
And to know, “Thus saith the Lord!”
Refrain:
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er;
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
Oh, for grace to trust Him more!
Acts 27:14-22  But not long after there arose against it a tempestuous wind, called Euroclydon.
And when the ship was caught, and could not bear up into the wind, we let her drive.
And running under a certain island which is called Clauda, we had much work to come by the boat:
Which when they had taken up, they used helps, undergirding the ship; and, fearing lest they should fall into the quicksands, strake sail, and so were driven.
And we being exceedingly tossed with a tempest, the next day they lightened the ship;
And the third day we cast out with our own hands the tackling of the ship.
And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared, and no small tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was then taken away.
But after long abstinence Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me, and not have loosed from Crete, and to have gained this harm and loss.

And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man's life among you, but of the ship.
