From the Pastor: Dr. M. J. Seymour, Sr.
“… knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.” (Rev. 3:17b-18)
Have you noticed that the truly arrogant, prideful, self-righteous, and vile individuals are never conscious of their afflictions? The problems are with other folks not themselves. It is always someone else that gets the cancers and other devastations; we never think that it is going to happen to us. When the wake-up call comes it is an utter shock. It is equally so spiritually speaking. Me sick!?
Thanks be unto the Lord that He has healing medicine for the epidemic of Lukewarmness!!! Is there mercy for me, O Lord?
The first prescription is to buy of Him “gold tried in the fire.” This is in reference to a purified faith purged of all doubt and rebellion. Apostle Peter wrote: “That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold …” (I Pet. 1:7a) Christ-like faith comes by much purging and is tested in the holy service for God. It is this golden faith that overcomes the world. It is this golden faith that is the very fuel that sets on fire the saints in the cause of Christ. It is this heat of passion that invests in the treasures of heaven.
Apostle James wrote: “Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?”(James 2:5) Materialism is at best a wicked interruption in our journey to that Celestial City. At worst materialism is a vicious thief robbing the saints’ souls of eternal crowns and rewards. It is an evil sickness.
It is far better to be freed from such self-afflicted maladies than to suffer loss of heavenly wealth. The medicine is not always an easy dose to take, but spiritual health is dependent upon it. If you be found in the riches of health Godward, take the Lord’s prescription.
