If Ever

If ever the election of God was on a living
soul,
If His predestination brought the gospel message old,
If His foreknowledge was ever known to be,
Then these things came in essence with power upon me.
If ever divine grace was present in the past,
And if our God extended this grace to man at last,
And if that grace was found by Noah in his time,
That grace was extended to me, and it is mine.
If ever there was a rainbow to brighten a weary sky,
And if for no other reason but to bring a promise by,
And if the post-diluvians saw this beauty grand,
I read of this great wonder in the Bible in my hand.
If ever in eternity God had a Son so great,
And if he ever loved him his body consecrate,
If ever the name of Jesus was a perfect, holy name,
Then I believe in Jesus; for this salvation came.
If ever a poor lost sinner saw agony and pain
For every sin committed and love of earthly gain,
If ever Jesus loved him and gave his life a ransom,
The gospel message given, the sinner has a mansion.
If ever in God's heaven a Savior sits enthroned,
If ever he has purchased each sheep he wholly owned,
If ever his blood fell surely from the cruel cross,
The saint in faith believing will never suffer loss.
If ever there was a Jesus who came down from above,
If ever in our hearts we feel eternal love,
If ever consolation rained down from lofty throne,
Our love abides forever; and we know we are his own.
