He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth
me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love
him, and will manifest myself to him. (John 14:21)
How wonderful the assurance that God will in nowise spurn our manifest
love and affection! With human lovers, we always risk rejection, but
with God, we who believe are given the certainty that all who adore Him
will be adored in return. And of course we must be so adored! We only
come to love God as we do because he first loved us. Praise be to our
compassionate Father that there is no unrequited affection in His
kingdom!
