A Thought From our Pastor:   Frustrating Jesus Christ.John 12:48 “He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.”   Last week we looked at “Frustrating The Grace Of God”. We learned last week that the word “Frustrating” has many differing definitions which all lead to the definition - to reject, - it is also like, to set aside, disannul, bring to nought. The ugliest definition is “bring to nought” which is what is done when Salvation by grace is rejected for any sort of works on our part. God boldly said salvation cannot be of both works and grace because one cancels the other out. Romans 4:4 - 5 "Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt…But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness." In our text scripture John 12:48 it says “He that rejecteth me…” the word “reject” is the identical Greek word as Frustrating in Galatians 2:2. So you might ask “how does one render Jesus Christ disannulled or bring Him to nought? Well, Jesus answered that question in John 12:48 “He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words…”. By rejecting Jesus Christ as Saviour one is making Him worthless to themselves. If Jesus Christ has no true value to you as Saviour then He serves no purpose to you. It is the same with God’s grace, either it is everything in bringing you to your salvation or nothing. God promised that Jesus Christ would come and save sinners “…thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.” Matthew 1:21 God also promised that "...being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him." Romans 5:9 Since this is true then we must also believe that salvation is in Him and Him alone because Jesus Christ said it absolutely was. "Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me." John 5:39 Why would they testify of Him and not our works, because He is salvation, and Him alone. The way one can frustrate Jesus Christ is exactly the way they frustrate God’s grace, they render it useless through false thinking in works. If one truly examines the scriptures, they cannot determine that works have any place in salvation at all. Salvation is not Grace and works and salvation is not Jesus and works, otherwise both grace and Jesus are rendered totally useless. This is properly defined in   Ephesians 2:8 - 9 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God...Not of works, lest any man should boast." If salvation is of Grace and through Jesus Christ, then nothing else belongs in it. What else could be a part of it? Pastors and Ministers frustrate both grace and Jesus Christ every single time they preach that works, any sort of works have any part in salvation. This is God’s record, recorded in His word, and to deny it is to deny God’s word and truth. God sent His Son to seek and to save and this mission has nothing to do with the efforts of man and his works. If you are saved, truly saved, then you were saved by God’s wonderful grace and through His Wonderful Son Jesus Christ. Paul summed this all up in his letter to the church as Rome in Romans 3:24 - 25 “Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus...Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;”

The Sword of God's TruthBy Arthur Pink    "Their speech is filled with flattery." Psalm 5:9  This is the identifying mark of the "hireling," the false pastor. He aims at pleasing his hearers, making them feel satisfied with themselves, ever patting them on the back.  "But he who has My Word—let him speak My Word faithfully" (Jeremiah 23:28), no matter how unpalatable it may be to the flesh, how much of a weariness to those who wish to have their ears tickled with novelties, or how loud the outcry against it is!  Ministerial faithfulness includes loyalty to his Master, devotion to His interests, steadfast adherence to the preaching of His Word, dispensing the Truth unto those whose souls are committed to Him—not mixing it with his speculations, much less substituting false doctrine. A far higher motive than the pleasing of his hearers must actuate and regulate ministerial service. Faithful preaching will render the minister unpopular, and will 'empty' churches—not 'fill' them!  "Then you will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free." (John 8:32) Souls are caught fast in the meshes of Satan's lies—and nothing but the sword of God's Truth can cut them free!    "A faithful man—who can find?" (Proverbs 20:6). Why is this? Because it is the part of fallen human nature to take the line of least resistance, and choose the path easiest to the flesh. But remember, my reader, whoever you are, that, "Lying lips are abomination to the Lord; but those who deal 'faithfully' are His delight." (Proverbs 12:22)  "Be faithful unto death—and I will give you a crown of life!" (Revelation 2:10)

What Would Jesus Do?   If at any time you are in any perplexity as to what to do, simply ask the question—"What would Jesus do?" Ask God by His Holy Spirit to show you what Jesus would do. Study your Bible to find out what Jesus did do—and follow Him.   "I have given you an example to follow." John 13:15   "Leaving you an example, so that you should followin His steps." 1 Peter 2:21
