A Thought From Our Pastor::
We Dwell In Peace And Safety In The Lord! “I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.” Psalms 4:8
Beloved, we are not a people with dependence on mankind; our faith is in the Lord and Him only. God is our shield and our protector; with Him we need none other. Even though we live in a world of hatred toward God and toward us because of Him, we will survive. We can lay down in peace at night because the Lord is holding us. Only God knows what’s ahead for us, therefore our security must be on Him. He is able to sustain and keep us safely from Satan and this evil world. God is Sovereign therefore His will is always accomplished, He is Omniscient therefore He knows every detail of everything, He is Omnipresent therefore He is everywhere at one time and since He is everywhere at one time He cannot leave us as He has promised. Hebrews 13:5 "...I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." God has set our bounds and we will not pass them either short or long. Job 14:5 “Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass;” If we believe these things about God then we need not lean on any other, not even on ourselves. It must be understood by the believer that God is our all and in all because if we do not believe and understand this then how can we have the trust in Him to sleep in peace at night. The Psalmist went on to say “…only makest me dwell in safety.” Only He can! When we look at ourselves we find how frail we are, how insecure we are, but in the Lord that all changes.
Beloved, I know this life is full uncertainty for the believer, but in the Lord, and under His protective hand we understand that nothing will happen to the believer outside of Gods will. God never promised us a tomorrow in this life but He has most certainly promised us a life forever beyond this one. God has said He does as He pleases with the inhabitance of creation and no one has a right to ask “...What doest thou?" Daniel 4:35 He has the right to give and to take life as He chooses because He is life, and the giver of it. Therefore it matters not what tomorrow will bring because it is God who has determined what is on tomorrow. So we can go to bed tonight and wonder if we are safe, or we can go to bed and know we are in Gods protective hand. Therefore, if I die before I wake than God has taken me home by His own blessed will. Folks, let us all take every day and every night one at a time understanding God is already in tomorrow and His will, will control tomorrow. Always remember this blessed promise from the Lord; "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? (36) As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. (37) Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. (38) For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, (39) Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:35 - 39
A Though For Your Bible Study:
This Love Is Mine!
Christ's love to his people love is no new thing. He loved us long before we were born. When his foreknowledge sketched us in his mind's eye, he beheld us in love. He proved his love, too. It was not merely contemplative love, but it was Practical Love, for he died for us before we knew anything of him, or were even here to learn about him.
His love is of such a wondrous kind that he always will love us. When heaven and earth have passed away, and shall be rolled up, or be put away like a worn-out vesture, he will still love us as he loved us at the first.
The Greatest Wonder to Me Is That this Un-purchasable Love, This Unending Love Is Mine! and you, my brethren and sisters, can always say, each one of you, if you have been regenerated, "This Love Is Mine! the Lord Jesus Christ loves me with a love I never could have purchased!"
By Charles Spurgeon's from his sermon "Un-Purchasable Love"
A Poem For Your Morning Thought:
The Bible
There it stands, like a mighty rock
In the midst of a raging sea;
The Bible stands, though men may mock
And attack it vehemently!
Why do men mock and hate it so?
This Book of eternal salvation!
Could it be that wicked men know
It warns of their condemnation?
They have burned it, and spurned it,
And explained it away;
They have denied and spiritualized,
But the Book is here to stay!
And though wicked men like Jehoiakim,
May take their penknives and whittle,
The Bible will not be expired by them,
Not even one jot or tittle!
For should they destroy it from the earth,
This Book which God has given;
'Tis settled forever from the first,
And has been preserved in heaven!
They shall be judged by this Holy Word,
All whose sins have not been atoned,
When they meet a thrice-Holy God
At the great white judgment throne!
