A Thought For The Week:

Advancing In God’s Word.
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15

Oh! How we all need to be reminded of this scripture. Study, study, and study, to show thyself approved unto God or as it might very well read to Christ the head of the churches. Study and learning to “…rightly dividing the word of truth.” Not to be man pleasers but rather being approved to God or Christ. Advancing in God’s word is learning and renewing our knowledge daily in truth. Truth does not just appear it is learned, and at the same time a gift from God. The writer of Proverbs said “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. (6.) In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." Proverbs 3:5 – 6 How wonderful; God teaching his minister truth and how to preach it. A worker that teaches truth and rightly dividing the word of truth “…needeth not to be ashamed…” even if the world hates it. Peter reminds us "That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:" 1 Peter 1:7 The trying of our faith is indeed most precious to us, that when it is tried with fire it passes the test. Precious; because the most wonderful way to be found of God is in truth. God said "For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?" Matthew 16:26 what does it profit a man if he losses truth to gain members in the church? Truth is so important that it is the standard by which ministers are judged. Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine. 1 Timothy 5:17 to rule well is to rule according to truth and double honor is to them that labor in truth. We are not judged on how many baptisms we had, how many were saved under our ministries, how large of church we pastor, or etc, etc, etc. we are judged by the truth we all teach. I am not ashamed of the five points of Sovereign Grace; nor will I fail to teach it even if some do not care to hear it. I am obligated to God first and Jesus Christ and His church second. A pastor cannot rule well if he is not teaching truth. A pastor that refuses to preach the hard doctrine of Gods word is a pastor not worth listening too.

For Our Weekly  Meditation:

Care Of Our Feet"He will keep the feet of his saints" 1Sam. 2:9

The way is slippery, and our feet are feeble, but the Lord will keep our feet. If we give ourselves up by obedient faith to be His holy ones, He will Himself be our guardian. Not only will He charge His angels to keep us, but He Himself will preserve our goings.
He will keep our feet from falling, so that we do not defile our garments, wound our souls, and cause the enemy to blaspheme.
He will keep our feet from wandering, so that we do not go into paths of error, or ways of folly, or courses of the world's custom.
He will keep our feet from swelling through weariness, or blistering because of the roughness and length of the way.
He will keep our feet from wounding: our shoes shall be iron and brass, so that even though we tread on the edge of the sword, or on deadly serpents, we shall not bleed, or be poisoned.
He will also pluck our feet out of the net. We shall not be entangled by the deceit of our malicious and crafty foes.
With such a promise as this, let us run without weariness, and walk without fear. He who keeps our feet will do it effectually.

Who Touched Me?

“And Jesus said, Who touched me?  When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?  And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.” (Lk. 8:45-46)

Oh, what a blessed thing indeed it would be to be able to touch the precious Lamb of God, the hallowed Lord of Glory, the only begotten of the Father!  Just the very thought of being close enough to look upon Jesus our Redeemer, much less to reach out and physically touch Him, is enough to thrill the depths of the humblest of hearts.  One touch would be more than enough for eternity!

The woman not only touched the Lord physically, but she also touched Him emotionally.  Jesus was moved by her desperation, her need, and her determination to grasp a holy crumb of hope from the Master.  Thus, Jesus responded by saying, “Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole: go in peace.” (Lk. 8:48)  She touched the kind heart of the Christ by full of faith persistence.

The thief on the cross next to Jesus touched Him spiritually when he said, “Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.  And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.” (Lk. 23:42-43)  The hopeless one encountered hope on his death-cross next to “the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.” (Jn. 1:29)  Jesus was touched in the spirit even in His death; but did He not come to save sinners?

Arrogant men attempt to impose themselves upon Jesus to force Him to save them, to heal them, and to obey their every demand.  It shall not be with the King of kings and Lord of lords!  Jesus obeys no man!  However, a humble sincere heart of faith can reach to the throne where Jesus sits and touch the Lord’s ear, heart, and power amid the blood of saving grace.  Prayers on the wings of the Holy Spirit will soar to heavenly pinnacles and by faith touch the Master.
