A Thought For The Week:
It opens the eye of the mind
Conversion is a deep work, a heart work. It makes a new man in a new world. It extends to the whole man—to the mind, to the members, to the motions of the whole life.

Conversion turns the balance of the judgment, so that God and His glory outweigh all carnal and worldly interests. It opens the eye of the mind, and makes the scales of its native ignorance fall off, and turns men from darkness to light. The man who before saw no danger in his condition, now concludes himself lost and forever undone—except renewed by the power of grace. He who formerly thought there was little hurt in sin, now comes to see it to be the chief of evils. He sees the unreasonableness, the deformity and the filthiness of sin; so that he is affrighted with it, loathes it, dreads it, flees from it, and even abhors himself for it (Rom 7:15; Job 42:6; Ezek 36:31). He who could see little sin in himself, and could find no matter for confession, now sees the rottenness of his heart, the desperate and deep pollution of his whole nature. He cries, 'Unclean! Unclean! Lord, purge me with hyssop, wash me thoroughly, create in me a clean heart.' He sees himself altogether filthy, corrupt both root and branch. He writes 'unclean' upon all his parts, and powers, and performances. He discovers the filthy corners that he was never aware of, and sees the blasphemy, and theft, and murder, and adultery, that is in his heart, of which before he was ignorant.

His hatred boils, his anger burns against sin. He has no patience with himself; he calls himself 'fool' and 'beast'; and thinks any name too good for himself—when his indignation is stirred up against sin. He could once wallow in it with much pleasure; now he loathes the thought of returning to it, as much as of licking up the filthiest vomit!
Hitherto he saw no form nor loveliness in Christ, no beauty that he should desire Him; but now he finds the Hidden Treasure, and will sell all to buy this field. Christ is the Pearl he seeks.
For Our Weekly Meditation:
God Said, No Peace!“But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt. There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.” (Is. 57:20-21)
We are frequently distraught with the intensity of wicked and inhumane violence flooding on the world stage. Seemingly, the whole world has erupted into mindless chaos. There appears to be no rhyme or reason for the insanity of it all. It appears that SIN rules the day and peace of mind and heart is a scarce commodity.
The root of these rampant mad cravings for all out degradation is embedded in the spiritual bankruptcy of men’s hearts and souls. We wrongfully presume that there is good in all men, but the Holy Bible reveals that there is “none good, no not one.” Where light is absent, there is utter darkness; even so, where the righteousness of God does not abide, the unrighteousness of the Wicked One overly excels. Absolutely all of the mayhem of society’s woes can be traced directly to the absence of the holy righteousness of God in Jesus Christ. This may be a bitter pill to swallow but it is God’s truth. There can be no rest, no peace, where wickedness abounds!
There is place of sweet rest and peace, but it is found only in Jesus Christ the Son of the living God. It is written: “Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.” (Rom. 15:13) Religious fanaticism has never brought anything upon men but extreme cruelty. However, believing into Jesus Christ through the Gospel message under the power of the Holy Spirit brings a heavenly peace for the heart and mind that passes all understanding.
To those who refuse to believe into Jesus, the Redeemer of men’s souls, God says, “NO PEACE!” For their eternity God promises that “the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night…” (Rev. 14:11) If one is traumatized in this world, think of Satan’s eternal brutality in hell.

Notice:
The church voted last Sunday night in a business meeting to financially support Brother Steve McCool and the mission in Ft. Smith NWT Canada. This brings our mission total to five. Brother Curtis Pugh, Brother Dan Sullivan, Brother Sergey Mochalov, and Brother Raul Enyedi. We praise God for this opportunity and pray someday the Lord will allow us to support more because a church can NEVER support too many missions. Brother McCool is a wonderful friend to this pastor and church and if your church is thinking about picking up another work in support please consider this work. For more details you can contact Steve at mccoolsd@verizon.net you can hear Steve talk about the work there in Canada on our web site at www.sgmbaptist.com/audio/McCool_ftsmith.mp3

Did You Know:
That in the first churches beginning with Jerusalem lived together and worshiped together in one accord? Did you also know that they took care of one another? And that the first church had approximately 25,000 – 50,000 souls in membership?
Acts 2:44 - 47 "And all that believed were together, and had all things common; (45.) And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. (46.) And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, (47.) Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved."
