The Lord Is My Shepherd-He Makes Me to Lie Down in Green Pastures

Psalm 23:2

When Jesus came, He came not only that we might have life, but that we might have it more abundantly. Thus His word comes to us, “He makes me to lie down in Green Pastures.” I have often seen cattle in the afternoon on a hillside lush with green grass. Their owner had provided plentifully for them. They have lain down in contentment. They are no longer up grazing. The have no need of nourishment. Food aplenty is all around them. They use now for their couches that which was intended for their palates.

Jesus is not only the Shepherd of the Sheep, but He is the Door of the Sheepfold as well. He has said, “By me, if any man enter in, he shall be saved and shall go in and out and find pasture. Our sins which were many are all washed away in His precious blood. “Where sin abounded, grace did much more abound.” There is a super abundance of grace. There is grace aplenty. There is grace for the vilest of sinners. The thief and the robber may come. The murderer and the rapist may come. The child molester may come. The drunkard and the drug addict may come. There is grace enough. For those not so steeped in sin, there is room at the Cross for you as well. The child may come. The Father and the son may come. The Mother and the daughter may come. O, listen, Calvary covers it all. Come in Repentance. Come in Faith. Come to the Savior.

Lord, you are good, ready to forgive, and plenteous in mercy unto all them who call upon Thee. “For there is no difference: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon Him. For whosoever shall call upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved.”
