"'Though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that ye through His poverty might be rich.' This text should have a larger application to men of wealth than to the poorer classes because they have larger possessions and more abundant opportunities for sacrifice. The rich men in the churches of this country have it within their power to solve our problems and save us from the fearful disasters which so seriously threaten us. Let these rich men become truly Christ like--let them become living sacrifices in the service of their God and country and race, and our clouds will disappear." (J. B. Hawthorne, 1837-1910)
