Daily Thoughts July 29, 2018

Gossip is a very serious sin that destroys the lives of the subject of the gossip, but also the members of that person’s family, and in the case of a believer, the members of that person’s church and the reputation of the church. Yet many Baptists, even true Sovereign Grace Baptists, seem to think nothing of it and engage often freely in it and don’t even bother to check the facts and if it is even true. Even if it is true, is it really to be repeated as a tale? Don’t we all have enough to deal with our own lives and sins? Gossip is a serious sin that has serious consequences in many lives. It can never be undone and I believe it will eventually backfire on the person propagating the gossip. Also, the one that listens is just as guilty. And remember when you hurt and destroy one of God’s people, it is like you do in unto Jesus!!!!

Ephesians 4:29 - Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
Proverbs 16:28 - A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.
Proverbs 20:19 - He that goeth about [as] a talebearer revealeth secrets: therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.
Proverbs 6
16 These six [things] doth the LORD hate: yea, seven [are] an abomination unto him:
17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
19 A false witness [that] speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

Titus 3:2 - To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, [but] gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men.
Psalms 101:5 - Whoso privily slandereth his neighbour, him will I cut off: him that hath an high look and a proud heart will not I suffer.
Proverbs 18:8 - The words of a talebearer [are] as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.
2 Corinthians 12:20 - For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I would, and [that] I shall be found unto you such as ye would not: lest [there be] debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults:
Luke 6:31 - And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.
