From the Pastor: Dr. M. J. Seymour, Sr.
“I am that bread of life. Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead. This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.”(Jn. 6:48-50) “And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.”(I Cor. 15:45) “That which is born (out)of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born (out) of the Spirit is spirit.”(Jn. 3:6)
The Holy Scriptures plainly set forth the fact of two dimensional realms impacting that created entity called“man.” There is the sphere of the physical and the sphere of the spiritual, and both are constant companions of living men. That fleshly creature birthed into the world by nature is living and must terminate in death (thank you, Adam). The creature born is also in possession of a spirit, but it by nature is born dead yet it is eternal; eternal in the second death or eternal in the glorified life, but an eternal existence in either case.
In a time of great physical need God sent manna to sustain the survival of fleshly men but as they aged they finally succumbed to the relentless curse of death. Manna was simply a temporary life giving fix for a bestial creature, no more, no less. Given of God? Yes, but only for the specified purpose of keeping the creature alive physically. It had no benefits beyond the momentary life of flesh.
The second bread given by God in the body of Jesus had an everlasting purpose. It is to quicken (give life to)the dead spirit of each man chosen in Christ before the world began. The dead spirit cannot give life to itself; therefore, it has to be nourished with a life giving sustenance. The Spirit quickens but it is Jesus, the Bread of Life that came down from heaven, who only has the power to give everlasting life to the spirit of a man. Jesus must administer Himself to death to bring forth life unto an everlasting spirit.
One must be a partaker of the body and blood of Jesus or he has no spirit life in him. The spirit wages life only by the Bread of Life.
