Divine Heritage

From the pastor: Dr. M. J. Seymour, Sr.

It is written: “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.” (Is. 54:17) Read Isaiah 54:13-17.

Oh what a ceaseless comfort to know that the LORD is our Protector, and that our heavenly birthright is His eternal guardianship. It is sad indeed to behold the saints of God wringing out their hands and hearts with incessant anxiety over opposition to the cause of Christ. If the children of God are obedient to their Father, He will not allow the enemy ultimate victory. The Father will guard His precious ones.

Resistance is actually good for us. A body builder lifts weights, or resistance, in order to strengthen his muscles that counter the resistance. The stronger the muscles are the more resistance he is able to counter. The servants of the Lord must constantly be exercised in the spirit so that they will be able to counter the resistance of spiritual wickedness. It is good to remember that we have a divine victorious heritage and our Father will not allow anything or anyone to prosper at our expense. God has promised, “whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall for thy sake.” God will not permit them to flourish. Our heritage is far more than pearly gates and streets of gold; it is also filled with the overshadowing protection of our almighty sovereign eternal Father.

Yes, the wicked will surely gather against the righteous servants of God; and we ought not to be shocked by their onslaught as if it is a strange thing. We have been forewarned; and we have been told to strengthen up to counter the resistance when it does come, not if but when. Many church folk are stunned when the enemies of the Lord’s churches raise their ugly heads and begin their cold vile calculated attacks, resisting the growth of the cause of Christ. We should not be traumatized; rather we ought to be strengthened in the knowledge that the Father will fight for us. The saints need not worry for the Lord is our Lord. He is the King of kings, and the Lord of lords! He is the Almighty! What have we to fear? Our righteousness is of God, and it shall not be torn from us. Our divine heritage is His guardianship.
